About the Competition
Jersey Idol auditions will be held over the course of two weekends in September, 2009. Contestants have the opportunity to perform one song, up to 5 minutes in length, in front of the judges. The judges will rate each contestant with a score of 1-10 in various categories, including ability, style, uniqueness, and stage presence.
Five finalists from each day of auditions will be called and/or emailed the following week and asked to return to the Finals on October 3, 2009. Here, finalists will perform again, either the same song or a new one, in front of the judges as well as an audience. Judges will provide feedback to the contestants and will again rate the contestants.
Winners will be determined by the judges' ratings as well as audience reaction.
There will be two Grand Prize Winners
A singer or group of singers will win the chance to sing the National Anthem at a Somerset Patriots home game.
A band or instrumentalist will win a recording session at Soundwaves Studios in Union, NJ.
